We are Fatshark
We are an independent Swedish game development studio located in Södermalm, Stockholm. With about 120 experienced and skilled employees we have worked as contractors for a number of AAA projects, as well as developed titles with publishers and independently for both consoles and PC. Our most recent game is the critically acclaimed title Warhammer: Vermintide 2. We tackle every project, genre and setting with enthusiasm, professionalism and a cup of coffee.
The role
Fatshark is looking to hire a Junior Backend Developer to join our backend team for Vermintide 2. The backend team works closely with the code and game design teams to build and maintain backend features for our game titles.
This position will provide an opportunity for a junior developer to get started in the game industry on a major, live title. You’ll be able to start off in an experienced team, working with existing functionality, and grow into your role.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the existing Vermintide 2 backend systems
- Work with the backend team to continuously improve backend performance and reliability
- Collaborate with the Vermintide 2 designers and developers to create new features as we develop the game
- Grow your coding skills and gain experience in game development
Tech you’ll use
- Javascript and Lua scripting languages
- Microsoft Azure PlayFab
- Serverless technologies, including cloud functions and NoSQL databases
- Git/Mercurial source control
Required qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related software engineering discipline, or a portfolio of awesome work you can show us to take its place!
- Software development work experience in the industry as an intern, a study placement or as a full time employee
- A keen interest in learning. This is a fast paced discipline and uses a diverse set of technologies.
- Strong communication skills in English (Swedish is not a requirement)
