We are Fatshark

We are an independent Swedish game development studio located in Södermalm, Stockholm. With about 90 experienced and skilled employees we have worked as contractors for a number of AAA projects, as well as developed titles with publishers and independently for both consoles and PC. Our most recent game is the critically acclaimed title Warhammer: Vermintide 2. We tackle every project, genre and setting with enthusiasm, professionalism and a cup of coffee.

We are looking for...

We are looking for Level Designers to join our team and help us create high-quality levels for current and upcoming co-op games. As a Level Designer, you are responsible for the design vision, direction and construction of levels and gameplay, working mainly with our in-house level editor tools for the Stingray engine. As part of our World Team, you will work closely with leads, level- and environment art, sound, VFX and TA to ensure the best player experience, and see that quality and performance goals are met. Aside from delivering excellent gameplay and game spaces, we see that you are driven, creative and flexible to meet deadlines and sneaky production changes.

This on-site position is not open for consultants or off-site contractors.


  • Create awesome single- and multiplayer levels and gameplay for FPS co-op games
  • Work closely with game design, art and sound to bring together and unify all game elements
  • Design, plan out and build levels from start to finish, balancing aesthetics, function vs. form relationships, performance and fun
  • Construct gameplay through blockout, level scripting and playtests
  • Research and incorporate the game's subject matter, story and core
  • Work self-motivated, efficient and organized
  • Take in and address critique and feedback from testers

Required qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience making fun, high-quality levels and gameplay in a FPS or third person shooter action/adventure game
  • Must be able to intelligently analyze and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of level design and game elements of current projects and other games
  • Visual scripting experience
  • Must work well in a team environment:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Takes and understands direction well
  • Meets deadlines and handles multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members

Bonus qualifications

  • 1+ years of professional level designer experience
  • Contributed to the development of one or more games for consoles or PC
  • Shipped at least 1 AAA or equivalent game
  • Development of cooperative games
  • Multiplayer map design and building experience
  • Formal education in level design
  • Background in art or game design
