We are an independent Swedish game development studio located in Södermalm, Stockholm. With about 75 experienced and skilled employees we have worked as contractors for a number of AAA projects, as well as developed titles with publishers and independently for both consoles and PC. Our most recent game is the critically acclaimed title Warhammer: Vermintide 2. We tackle every project, genre and setting with enthusiasm, professionalism and a cup of coffee.

Audio Software Engineer

Fatshark is looking to hire an experienced Audio Software Engineer that will support and further improve our audio tools pipeline.

Sound is used in every aspect of the game - from dynamic music to triggering sounds in thousands of animations. It takes good tools to support and enhance the workflow of game audio.  

You will be working close to the sound design- and engine/tools developer team - being responsible for the audio production pipeline, from DAW to run-time.

More specifically, you will work on Warhammer Vermintide II as well as new exciting projects with the benefit of having a close relationship with our strong community of passionate gamers.

Onwards, you will thrive in the forefront of game audio programming - constantly pushing the limits of next-gen audio technology.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support development tools for the audio department.
  • Program game code integration, middleware integration, audio asset management and be responsible for all related audio systems (C++).
  • Support audio designers in their use of these systems and tools.
  • Identify and resolve pipeline and engine issues and discover opportunities for improvement.


Requirements

  • Strong C++ skills (or other low level programming languages)
  • Low level audio systems knowledge. File streaming, memory usage, mixing, codecs, hardware codec decompression etc.
  • Great communication skills with a habit of cooperating with other teams.
  • A degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Passion for audio


Nice-To-Have

  • Experience working with Wwise (or other third party audio engine)
  • Audio/DSP effects programming
  • Console experience (Playstation/Xbox)
  • GUI design experience
  • Low-level optimization skills
