We are a Swedish game development studio located in Södermalm, Stockholm. With about 150 experienced and skilled employees we are developing and publishing titles for both consoles and PC. Our most recent game is the critically acclaimed title Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and we are also working on our next game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
The role
We are looking for a Lead Environment Artist to join our team, helping us finalize our amazing levels with a high-quality visual flair for our up-coming game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and other future projects.
As a Lead Environment Artist, you will be responsible for managing art production aswell as work hands on - creating models, materials, help out with level storytelling and asset optimization, without disrupting gameplay.
You will work closely with all departments to ensure that quality and performance goals are met and carry out the art director's vision.

Responsibilities
- Manage environment art production, making sure to meet deadlines and assure an even art quality across the board
- Collaborate with level designers, VFX, SFX, concept artists and level artists creating assets to be used in-game
- Help the team technically and artistically to carry out the art director's vision and support the teams personal development
- Create materials/shaders together with our TA department for assets with a strong focus on playability and fast iteration
- Play the game and extract missing assets, create them, and request concept art/paintovers where needed
- Create “beautiful corners” for inspiration to others in the team, explore and experiment
- Make sure the levels run on target platforms. If some areas have lower performance you have to be able to analyse why and address the issues by designing around this
- Collect feedback & critique from testers
Required qualifications
- 5+ years work experience creating real time 3D environments for Console or PC games
- Expert level proficiency with Blender, 3ds Max, ZBrush, 3dCoat, Substance Designer/Painter, Photoshop or equivalent 3D and 2D software
- Team leadership experience
- A graphical eye with a strong understanding of color, form, shape, structure, and silhouette
- Be able to read and follow a piece of concept art, and be able to improvise without one
- Ability to author PBR materials and all associated maps for new or existing assets, as well as classical texturing methods
- A strong grasp of modular building and reusability
- Strong communication skills & can work well in a team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
- Strong technical ability and willingness to learn new tools, techniques and workflows
- Versatility, independence and a sense of initiative are your strong points
- Fluent in spoken and written English
Bonus qualifications
- Shipped at least 1 AAA or equivalent game.
- Houdini experience.
- Development of cooperative games.
- Strong Warhammer interest.
- A background in gaming.
- Degree in art or game design.
